WAAS

The Women's Art Activation System

The WAAS is an artist collective formed by Sarah Dixon in 2016 with the aim of activating women’s art. Today, principal artists Sharon Bennett and Sarah Dixon collaborate to make live art, performance and socially engaged works.

Activate

In this collaboration with Sharon Bennett, we have made works including The Bureau For the Validation of Art; The Baby Makers funded by the National Lottery Community Fund; and The Milky Way (pictured), a breastfeeding paintings game for National Gallery visitors.

Participants playing The Milky Way, as part of the WAAS' AHRC-funded SAFEDI commission with Axis, Manchester Metropolitan University, and Social Art Network.
