GUT FEELINGS

SURGE iii - UAL x UCL

A collaboration between artist Sarah Dixon and Ryman Hashem, Senior Research Fellow at UCL WEISS Centre, to explore the impacts of Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM

SEVERE SICKNESS

This condition affects around 1-3% of people in pregnancy, yet is not always well understood – even by health professionals.

We held a workshop with participants all of whom had had hyperemesis in pregnancy.

Out of this Sarah collaborated with Ryman to make a film, using photography, audio, video, sculpture, painting and stop motion.
Participants and Ryman Hashem at the hyperemesis impacts workshop

Ryman Hashem presents his work on stomach models (known as phantoms) while participants create work about their experience of hyperemesis.
